Peaks and Valleys
Eric and I seem to be at a peak in the cycle of our marriage, which is absolutely shocking given that he is working an odd combination of days and nights and is therefore sleeping very little. Sadly, I know that this peak will not last indefinitely. I always chant to myself, "this, too, shall pass" when things are going badly, but I think it is worth remembering when things are going well, too; then when the natural cycle in our marriage pulls us down into another valley, maybe we won't think of it as a crisis, but instead as just an inevitable bump in the road that truly will move on again to make way for another peak.

*smiles* The corollary to "Winter is Coming" is "Spring is Coming". Knowing that the downs come with ups is what keeps us going.
Don't think too hard about the coming valley except to accept it when it comes and know there will be another peak coming.

Those crisis valleys can the best part of a marriage. It's when things are the hardest that couples that stick in there grow.
I've heard it described as the rough buffing wheel of marriage knocking off rough edges to shape people into perfect diamonds.
Right now we're in a valley so deep no Jack Handey thoughts can escape. Once we're through I expect you'll be able to see our recently buffed sparkling coming from West of you.
